Project

The integration for refugees is a challenging, dynamic two-way process in Europe, placing demands on the receiving societies and individuals as well, starting from the first day a refugee arrives in the host country. The European Commission placed the migration, refugees issue on its top political priorities, to which all EU states need to pay the necessary attention.

The project “Enhance professionals’ knowledge on refugees integration” is implemented on a period of 24 months (1 September 2016 – 31 August 2018)

 The Objectives of the Project:

  • Increase number of health/legal/social professionals able to provide specialized assistance in a cultural sensitive manner to the refugees.
  • Increase number of health/legal/social professionals able to provide specialized assistance in a cultural sensitive manner to the refugees.
  • Strengthen multi-disciplinary cooperation among health/legal/social professionals on the EU territory.
  • Ensure transfer of know-how, best practices on inclusive integration programs for refugees among several EU countries.
  • Improve the integration process of the refugees in the EU host society.

  Project Activities:

  • Transnational project meetings in partners’ countries.
  • Transnational project meetings in partners’ countries.
  • Joint staff training events in Hamburg Germany and in Brussels Belgium.
  • A study on refugees’ integration programs in all partners’ countries.
  • A handbook for social/health/legal professionals working with refugees and for the ones that would like to specialize themselves in assisting the target group.
  • Seminars (as multiplier events) in Romania, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Sweden.

  The Partnership:

The project is coordinated by Association Pro Refugiu in partnership with Caritas International Belgium, Passage gGmbH Germany, Trabe Iniciativas para la Economia Social y Solidaria Spain, Scandinavian Human Rights Lawyers Sweden.

Association Pro Refugiu (www.prorefugiu.org) is a non-governmental organization with office in Bucharest, Romania, having as mission the protection, promotion of the rights of asylum seekers, refugees, victims of human trafficking. The organization is focused on providing legal, social, health assistance for the target groups and also is organizing frequent trainings for professionals in the mentioned fields.

The NGO is developing also studies, reports on human trafficking and migration phenomenon. The organization has expertise in implementing and coordinating projects focused on the target groups, financed during the years by EEA Grants and European Commission Programs. The organization is member of the EU Civil Society Platform against Trafficking in Human Beings, FRA Civil Society and the Fundamental Rights Platform; Global Alliance against Traffic in Women.

Passage (www.passage-hamburg.de) is a non-profit organization for employment and vocational integration in Hamburg. The organization is implementing measures for language and vocational training and social inclusion for migrants, refugees and other disadvantaged people. For many years European projects have been carried out in the department “Migration and International Cooperation” within the thematic field of migration/flight in connection with vocational training and employment market integration.

Passage is coordinating also a multi actor network on Hamburg level in the field of vocational training and education for migrants and refugees and managing a dialog with the authorities in the land of Hamburg. There are also involved institutions like vocational schools and chambers, labor agencies and authorities of the Land of Hamburg, as well as NGOs with actors from refugee and migrant communities.

Caritas International Belgium (www.caritas-int.be) provides support to victims of war, natural disasters and poverty, assistance for migrants in collaboration with the national and international networks to which Caritas in member. Areas of action: reception and social support or asylum seekers, integration programs for refugees, family reunifications, guardianship of foreign unaccompanied minors, voluntary return and sustainable reintegration in the native country.

Trabe Iniciativas para la Economia Social y Solidaria (www.trabe.org.es) is a non-profit organization aimed to the integration of groups at risk of social exclusion, immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers, minorities, women.

Its objectives are: to contribute to migrant women social and economic integration; development of programs and projects aimed at inclusion in the labor market, social integration, education and training, gender and equal opportunities, development cooperation, voluntary work and third sector; to promote social and supportive economy. Trabe has several open services that receive people with special needs (human trafficking, sexual exploitation, job seekers, etc.)

Scandinavian Human Rights Lawyers (http://humanrightslawyers.eu/) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to the protection and promotion of human rights and freedoms in Scandinavia and Europe. It implements an effective strategy of advocacy, networking and education on issues with a specific focus on topics linked to migration, refugees and human trafficking phenomenon. SHRL is a member of the EU Platform for Human Rights, European Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA).
